NextGen Nano has announced a major breakthrough in transparent solar film technology, with its proprietary Ghostech™ film validated at large-area scale by Fraunhofer ISE — Europe's largest solar research institute.
The validation confirmed strong first-pass yield on roll-to-roll compatible processes, a critical milestone on the path to commercial production. The result demonstrates that Ghostech™ can be deposited at scale on the manufacturing lines the industry already operates, without the factory rebuilds that have historically slowed new photovoltaic technologies.
Ghostech™ is a high-transparency organic solar film that generates clean power from light while remaining clear to the eye. It is designed to turn ordinary glass, façades, greenhouse roofs and vehicle surfaces into generating surfaces — without changing how they look.
"This result de-risks the scale-up question that has hung over transparent solar for years," a NextGen Nano spokesperson said. "It shows our chemistry and process work together on industrial equipment, at meaningful area, with the yields a production line needs."
NextGen Nano is now transitioning to commercial production with a manufacturing partner in Europe, and is building partnerships across energy, construction and industrial markets.
